Holidays and injuries deplete FPL

PHUKET: For the first time ever on Sunday, the Fair Play League (FPL) was staged at two different locations – the under-14s playing at British International School (BIS), while the under-11 games were at Headstart International School.

But with most teams struggling for numbers due to injuries and players on holiday, the under-14s were forced to play six-a-side matches instead of the traditional seven.

In the first round of matches, Brazil took on an unbeaten France team but handed them a shock result, winning 4-2.
New league leaders Argentina also got off to a rough start, going down 4-2 to an improving Thailand.

In the German derby, the Green team were able to dispatch Germany White with another score of 4-2.

The second set of matches were more one sided as players started to tire quickly in the heat.

New Paths Retreat

Argentina went down 5-1 to an impressive looking Brazil, France took Germany White to the sword and won 8-2, while Germany Green reclaimed the top spot in the league with a hard fought 4-2 win over Thailand.

Meanwhile in the under-11s, Brazil continued their fine form and kept another clean sheet, claiming a 4-0 win over France.

Germany Green stayed hot on the tails of Brazil by beating Germany White 5-1, and Argentina managed to claim their second win of the season with a comfortable 9-1 win over bottom placed Thailand.
