After collecting data from sensitive monitoring equipment for five days, the Director of the Active Fault Research Division (AFRD) of the Department of Mineral Resources, Suwith Kosuwan, said yesterday (April 23) that the epicenter was 10 kilometres below the surface in the southern foothills of Khao Pra Taew ridge.
The epicentre was about 1 to 2 kilometres northeast of Baan Bang Kham community in Moo 2 of Tambon Sri Soonthorn, where the walls of some 200 houses were reported to have been cracked by the quake.
Mr Suwit added that the fault appears to be stabilising, with aftershocks diminishing in both frequency and intensity.
