Lt Sineenart Cherdchootrakulthong from Kathu Police was called to investigate an incident in Soi Sansabai at 4:12am where it was reported a foreign man had been killed and two men had sustained injuries during a fight.

Upon arrival at the scene, Lt Sineenart and rescue workers found the body of a shirtless foreign man (name withheld until his family have been notified) lying on the road in front of the Orchid Resotel, there were two stabs wounds on the man’s chest.

Lt Sineenart explained, “We were told by the victim’s friend, a 23-year-old Moroccan man named Said Missoury, who also suffered a stab wound, that while he and his friend were walking down the street to go back to their resort a Thai man, named as 33-year-old Somporn Kakkaew, drove his motorbike into them.

“The three got into an argument and a fight broke out. Somporn pulled out a knife and stabbed Mr Missoury one time,” she said.

Mr Missoury told police that he ran inside the hotel and heard his friend calling for help.

“I turned around and saw him collapse in the road,” he said.

Lt Sineenart added, “Sompron was taken to Vachira Hospital where he was being treated for a wrist injury. The deceased and Mr Missoury were also taken there.

“We did not find a knife at the scene, however, officers area looking at CCTV footage from the area right now,” she said.

Why was this man carrying a knife ? many have concealed weapons as they can easily get involved with local altercations. As we know there appears to be no middle ground just craziness when some Thais lose their cool. This is not being unkind, its just what i have observed with some elements.Josephine if there is a God then i hope he is keeping score, you deserve a 10, and of course all your belongi...

I was there. The knife injuries was mainly on the man's belly on the left side. He had already lost a lot of blood when I came to the place. Had a first aid kit with me and gave CPR but it was too late. While I gave mouth to mouth someone stole my handbag. It's hard to have hope for humanity sometimes :(

Why would he be carrying a knife? What is so wrong about Thai culture to carry & use weapons?
