It is understood that dental records were used to confirm Mr Tzouvanni’s identity.

The north-London-based property company director had been staying at the Sand Inn on Soi Sansabai. Staff there said that he had not been seen since the time of the fire, and that all his belongings were still in his room.

His brother Joseph flew to Phuket after receiving a call from Michael saying that he was in the Tiger disco and that there was a fire. After that the line was cut.

The British Embassy has been notoified and will assist in making arrangements for Mr Tzouvanni’s remains to be sent home.

DNA and other tests to identify the remaining three bodies are still in progress. Results are expected in the next couple of days.
