FOOTBALL: Coach Panipol’s change in tactics worked well. But I am disappointed that he decided to play Nonthaphan at left wing after the captain had performed below par in the first home game, against Bangkok FC.

It can be seen clear as day that Nonthaphan can’t seem to adjust to the position, where he supposed to go wide and cross the ball in.

Instead the captain dropped back to his former post at left back and forced Thongchai, who plays in that position, to push forward along the sideline.

Nonthaphan was replaced by Nirun near the end of second half, but it was quite a surprise that Nirun didn’t contribute as much to the game as I had hoped he would.

The big surprise, however, was Coach Tuu’s choice of goalkeeper: he decided to give Kampon another shot at it. But the teen goalkeeper seemed distracted, and committed easy mistakes all through the game – although he was quick enough to recover them before he got punished the way he did against Bangkok FC.

Bit by bit, things seem to have fallen into place, but Coach Panipol can’t dance around this much longer.

He still have to decide if he will keep playing fan favourites Nonthaphan and Kampon, and risk dropping points along the way – or drop them and find a better replacement for the positions.

I hope to see some changes on Saturday (March 23) in the Toyota League Cup, the knock-out round, when Phuket host PTT Rayong FC.
