In a sting operation carried out yesterday (May 21) in tambon Sattahip in Sattahip district, the mother identified only as Ann, alias Ann Thammawitthaya, was detained with four tablets of methamphetamine (ya bah) and B900 in cash, said Noraset Sritapassso, the district chief who led a combined force of security and narcotics suppression authorities in the operation.

The arrest was carried out outside a house in the Thammawitthaya community, said Mr Noraset.

Ann, who was given away by a drug addict to whom she had sold drugs in the past, was caught after she sent out her son to buy drugs from a dealer, known only as Ko, who lives about 200 metres from her home, Mr Noraset said.

The boy returned on his bicycle and handed the drugs to his mother who in return handed him a B100 banknote she said was payment for his help, said the district chief, citing preliminary questioning of the detained mother.

Ann was quoted as saying she returned to the drug trade after she was most recently discharged from prison because it is the easiest way for her to make a living.

Since she knew she was being watched by authorities, she decided to use her son to do the job for her, she was quoted as saying, adding she gave her son money to spend on snacks and video games.

She was charged with distributing illegal drugs, while her son was given a warning and released.

Authorities had less luck finding Mr Ko, 27, who had already fled when police raided his home.

Authorities will next seek a warrant for Mr Ko’s arrest.

Sounds a bit like the thai mama's who send their daughters and son's to Patong, Pattaya and Bkk to 'work' in the bars.

This is exactly the kind of chronic repeat drug dealer behavior that you can expect when there are no consequences for your criminal actions. She hasn't learned anything, and the Thai criminal (in)justice system is utterly gutless in terms of rehabilitation and diversion. Nothing is learned on either side of the fence, and this pathetic lady's life will continue to circle the bowl, and will ultimately suck her child into the sinking vortex. Pathetic
