Are you ready to drum and dance under the sun, and later participate in a trance dance session lit by only candles and stars on the beach?

The Phuket Drum Circle’s 4th anniversary party is waiting for you. It will take place on Sunday July 31, from 4pm to 10pm at Naiharn beach. In the event of rain it will be held at Yoonique Stone Bar near Naiharn lake. This is a free event that is always open to the public and anyone who wants to try dancing or drumming on the beach.

The PDC is a bimonthly event, which in 2012 became the first public drum circle in Thailand with a regular schedule and a website. Although it is at times a small gathering on the beach, thousands of people from around the world have joined in over the years. The goal of this group is to provide a public setting for drumming and dancing where anyone can participate. Drumming and dancing are important in this environment yet some people join for the meditative and healing effects of the drumming. Drum circles occur on the second Sunday of every month in Naiharn, and on the last Sunday in Patong. The anniversary party on July 31 will take place at Naiharn beach instead of Patong for ideal lighting conditions that will allow a candlelight display which will commemorate the anniversary.

Public drum circles are popular in America and other English-speaking countries. Most US cities have at least one drum circle that is free to attend. Phuket offers several unique attractions and the PDC is one of those things you won’t find elsewhere. More than a tourist attraction, it’s a place where you can fully participate, and join an incredibly diverse local and international community on the beach.
