UK exempts Thais from quarantine

THAILAND: The United Kingdom has included Thailand in its “travel corridors”, allowing people who go from the kingdom to be exempt from the compulsory 14-day quarantine on arrival.

“Thailand is exempt from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO)’s advice against all non-essential international travel. This is based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks,” said the UK’s foreign travel advice. The announcement came into force at 4am today (Sept 19).

Thailand and Singapore have been included in a list which already included Brunei, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam. This was due to the numbers of new COVID-19 infections decreasing in those countries, deputy spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Natapanu Nopakun said of the development.

He said business people and students from Thailand could now travel to the UK more conveniently.

Earlier, Israel also included Thailand in its list of “Green Countries”, while Germany had already removed Thailand from its list of high-infection areas, thus allowing travellers from Thailand to arrive without undergoing mandatory quarantine.

However, UK travellers still need to undergo the 14-day quarantine when they arrive in Thailand, Mr Natapanu noted.

Kurt , I picked those flights because the article is about the UK and Thailand. A fact you probably missed. And transit hours many times more than 5-12 hours is nonsense. Wondering on what sites you google. Probably looking only for the cheapest available flight.

"PN has gone to the dogs" Actually that happened a long time ago. The same day a certain serial poster/complainer signed up for this forum !

Pascale | 22 September 2020 - 14:34:14

Best news in a while ! The great protector says good bye.

r.2...If anyone can't string a few words together into a coherent, factual manner in English, write in whatever language pleases you.

Rorri_2 | 22 September 2020 - 10:40:35

anyway, as far as I'm concerned, PN has gone to the dogs.. I will no longer comment.

Rorri_2 | 22 September 2020 - 10:39:32

My mistake... wrong stop over.. yes, I make a mistake, of course it should be "stop over" .. but the fact is.. you got it wrong... you seem hell bent on criticising, without even trying to understand... I don't know why it is allowed to go on... you NEVER make an attempt to understand anyone, whose first language is NOT English, but for some reason the "editor" allows it.

Kurt | 22 September 2020 - 10:27:52

Well, Dek is wrong with his 'direct' flights as for european flights you have to change aircraft in Middle east airport, get 2 boarding passes. Dek, conveniently searched/picked short stop over times. We can look at booking sides of Emirates, Qatar for stop over times to, for example, Amsterdam or other destinations. Anyway, whatever, Dek shall and must sail against the wind. :-) to any ...

DeKaaskopp | 22 September 2020 - 08:28:19

"Kurt didn't deny any long over stay" R2 ,It's about long "stop over" and not "over stay". You mix up something here. And as Kurt did talk only about "long" transit times ,I corrected him that it doesn't have to be that way as there are enough airlines to compare. So what is your waffling about again ?

Rorri_2 | 21 September 2020 - 15:21:58

DeKaaskopp, not sure what you are on about, Kurt didn't deny any long over stay... so, just what is you point.. in fact, your comment only stated 2-3 hours... so very wrong, and before that a "direct" flight, both times wrong, now you argue with those that were right... what is wrong with you.

DeKaaskopp | 21 September 2020 - 11:08:53

Kurt, Emirates from Bangkok to London 1,10 hr. stopover, return 2,10 hrs. Qatar A. Bangkok to London 1,25 hrs stopover, return 0,55 hrs. You calling that long ? Enough airlines to choose from regarding stopover times. And yes, you are afraid of flying because you worry about the virus. Therefore you are scared of the virus.

Kurt | 21 September 2020 - 10:27:57

Flights Phuket-> Dubai/Qatar ->Europe are never 'direct'. Always change plane. Transit hours many times more than 5-12 hours. Qatar even shuttle transit passengers a number of hours into a Doha hotel.

Kurt | 21 September 2020 - 09:02:15

@DeK, 1: I wrote 'long stop overs', not a period of time. Don't insinuate. Look at the long stop over times to Europe of Emirates and Qatar. 2: I not wrote about deciding. Don't insinuate. 3: I am safe living, follow the rules, not scared of virus. Don't insinuate. Your continues assumptions are derailing peoples comments. Bending into something people not commented.

LALALA | 21 September 2020 - 07:27:56

DEK, no it would not be a direct flight as an aircraft change takes place..... maybe you make your research first.

DeKaaskopp | 21 September 2020 - 00:32:35

@Kurt You calling a 2-3 hrs. stopover long ? Apart from that are you aware of the stopover /transit procedure from those airlines ? And apart from that,if it would be about people like you to decide--who are so scared of this virus--there would be no flying anymore for a long time..

Kurt | 20 September 2020 - 11:26:22

With flying with the good service providing Middle East airlines come long stop overs at their home base in transit zones, while flying to Europe. Thousands of people move around there many hours.. Not changing Q-status? Tell that to Covid-19 virus.

DeKaaskopp | 20 September 2020 - 10:31:48

@Nasa12 Actually it would be a "direct flight". Learn the difference between a "direct" and "nonstop" flight first. And having to wait in a transit zone would not change the quarantine status ! At least not if you fly to Germany. If it's different for England, please name the source of your information.

Nasa12 | 20 September 2020 - 07:51:51

@DKK, Then it’s not a direct flight. So then 14-day quarantine.

DeKaaskopp | 19 September 2020 - 15:10:56

@shwe No problem to get a flight to GB. Etihad /Emirates among others are flying to London etc.

Shwe | 19 September 2020 - 11:54:27

all they need now will be flights to get there
