Close fight for Phuket Super Six lead

FOOTBALL: As the Super Six league season reaches the half-way point: two top teams have dropped points in the latest round, and there is now only a two point difference between the top five teams in Division 1. Seduction remain top in Division 2, while in Division 3 Russia United have leapfrogged the Fruit Ninjas.

Division 1 

Phuket Condos & Homes v Shakers FC: 4 – 4

Both teams were looking for three points in this game, as PC&H looked to keep pressure on the top, while Shakers were keen to climb the table after a slow start. Shakers started in their normal high-pace style, leaving little room for the opponents, which rewarded them with an early lead. But PC&H never gave up, and although being down most of the game clawed back two late goals to even up the score.

Banana FC A v Joy Dive FC: 5 – 4

Banana FC put another dent in Joy Dive’s title ambitions in a tight game that ended 5-4 to the Banana boys. Joy Dive are still top of table, but with only a single point from three games.

Holiday Inn FC v Pita Bar Phuketeers: 1 – 1 

Holiday Inn put in another commendable effort, this time against the ambitious Phuketeers team, who lost the opportunity to go top of table after having to share the points. 

Nanai Boys v Morning Star: 2 – 2 

Morning Star lost the chance to share top of table after going Dutch on points with the Nanai Boys. Nanai Boys, still looking for their first win of the season, deservingly snatched a late equaliser.

Division 2

Atmanjai v Big Apple & Pita: 2 – 4

Atmanaj suffered their third loss in as many games, as Big Apple continued their climb up the table. The score was level for large parts of the game, but Big Apple showed better determination in front of the goal, pulling away with a 4-2 win.

QSI International School Phuket

Phuket Serenity Villas v Mr Moo: 4 – 3

Another slap in the face for Mr Moo as they lost by a single goal against PSV, who jumped up to second spot on the table. Mr Moo were leading 3-1 until they had a player dismissed for handling the ball.

Irish Times v Bat Fire: 4 – 4

Irish Times lost the opportunity to go top of table after having to share points with Bat Fire in an exciting affair.

Division 3

Rose United v FC Raya Group Asia: 4 – 7

Rose United lost the opportunity to go joint top, after a surprise loss to FC Raya Group, who looked especially strong on the night.

Two Chefs v Crown Plaza Panwa FC: 4 – 3

Two Chefs fought hard to snatch their second win of the season against Thai team Crown Plaza.

Russia United v Fruit Ninjas: 2 – 1

Top of the table match between two previously unbeaten teams Russia United and Fruit Ninjas. Fruit Ninjas went into the lead after 10 minutes, but Russia United pulled one back before the break. In the second half, both teams pushed for the winning goal, but it was Russia United who were awarded with a late goal and all three points. With this result, Russia United leap-frogged Fruit Ninjas into first spot on the table, exactly halfway into the season.
