Phuket Police told The Phuket News the driver of the bus, which was heading toward Patong, lost control when the bus wheel slipped into a drain around 5pm (April 3).
Details are sketchy, but it appears the bus crashed into the side of the hill on the Patong side. No one was hurt in the crash, police said.
It is the second Pegas Tours bus to crash on Patong Hill in the last two months. On February 13 a Pegas bus, luckily carrying no passengers, lost control when its brakes failed and it crashed into a woman on a motorbike. She suffered a broken arm and severe facial injuries.
On March 15, the brakes on a bus from Air Bus Co failed and it crashed on the hill, in almost the same spot as the bus did tonight.
Aphitwat Phetsai, 19, a Patong hotel worker, died in the March crash. Nine other people were injured when the bus with failed brakes headed downhill into Patong, sideswiping several cars and knocking motorbike riders flying.
