British Amb Brian Davidson to talk on post-Brexit UK, tourism safety in Phuket

British Ambassador to Thailand Brian Davidson will be the keynote speaker at the British Chamber of Commerce of Thailand (BCCT) Phuket Business Dinner in Patong on September 22.
British Ambassador to Thailand Brian Davidson will be the keynote speaker at the British Chamber of Commerce of Thailand (BCCT) Phuket Business Dinner in Patong on September 22.

Ambassador Brian Davidson will speak on post-Brexit issues, deliver an update on British Embassy in Bangkok processes and services as well as key Phuket-related issues such as tourism safety, The Phuket News has been told.

Although his appointment was announced in September last year, Amb Davidson has been British Ambassador to Thailand since June 2016.

He has extensive experience in Asia, having started his career in Beijing (1988-1992) and most recently served as Consul General in Guangzhou and then Shanghai between 2006-2015.

Other overseas posts have included Lithuania and Australia. While in the UK Brian has worked for the Cabinet Office as an analyst on international terrorism and on secondment to International Financial Services London as Deputy Chief Executive.

Amb Davidson holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Cambridge University. He speaks Mandarin Chinese, French and rusty Lithuanian and is currently studying Thai. Amb Davidson married his husband, Scott, in 2014 in one of the first same-sex marriages performed at the British Embassy Beijing. They are now the happy parents of one son.

The event, one of the successful Phuket Business Dinner series, will be held at the Amari Phuket Patong Beach from 6:30pm to 9pm.

Attendance costs B890 per person, including inter-buffet and soft drinks. Payment direct at the door to hotel.
