God bless the barista. For it is they who rescue us from the drudgery of day to day life and deliver us a most righteous latte. At the PTT gasoline station in Chalong, there is one such drinks angel who works at the Amazon Cafe. Her name is Sofiya Pensuk, she is 42-years-old and has over 10 years of experience.
For Sofiya, the job is much more than just filling coffee powder into a machine and letting the machine do its work.
She said, “The detail often lies in the sweetness of a particular specialist cup as per the customer’s request. Also the taste of coffee will change if the coffee isn't at the right temperature.”
In fact, Sofiya attended a three-month long barista training course to learn how to make the perfect coffee cup, at the right temperature and of course, how to decorate it.
A particularly difficult coffee receipe to follow is a hot cappuccino, as the coffee has to be the exact right temperature to ensure the foam does not melt into the coffee.
Out of all the different types of coffee, including Mocha, Cappuccino, Latte and Espresso, one of Sofiya’s favourites, owing to its unique flavour is Amazon Cafe’s very own ‘Amazon’ coffee.
