Neill Thacker, Head of the Arts at BISP and also the Producer and Director of the musical said, “The performances will be the culmination of four months hard work that began with auditions way back in December 2012. With a large number auditioning the team had the unenviable task of deciding on the cast as it is now.
"The standard of work and the skill shown by all those who auditioned made these decisions even harder, and as a result we cast more students than originally intended. We are immensely proud of the fact that we have 100 people involved in this production with students of all ages from year 3 to year 13, parents and staff.”
Students have been spending their weekends rehearsing, with the final dress/technical rehearsal taking place on Sunday 31 March.
“Rehearsals have been lively and creative with a real sense of the whole cast owning the work, with ideas coming from staff and students alike. We have created a show of which we are immensely proud, a show that draws on the dynamic energy and commitment of our highly skilled cast.”
Mr Thacker thanks the BIS Phuket PTA (Parents and Teachers Association) for purchasing the 10 wireless head set mics that the principal cast are using, and added, “I would like to thank my co-director Mrs Moira Lowe for all of her effort and input. She is an excellent director, with whom I have enjoyed working with on this my first whole school production at BIS Phuket, and for the previous two Key Stage Two productions. Thank you to our drama teacher Mr. Tim Evans for his wisdom and extra help in character development and fine-tuning.”
