For two months from June 15, visitors walking into participating businesses will be able to get discounts on clothing, jewellery, handicrafts, dining, hotels, spas and a wide range of entertainment.
The sale is organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) with the aim of increasing tourist numbers in Phuket, Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin, Haad Yai, and Samui.
Some airlines will also offer discounts to selected destinations.
Those who have problems shopping (mostly men, one suspects) will want to know that Australian Wendy Johnson, author of the popular Hot Spots to Shop book series, will be Shopping Guru in Residence at the Rembrandt Hotel in Bangkok from August 10 to 16, “so I can be available to help shoppers find the best bargains”.
“I love the shopping in Bangkok at any time,” she adds, “because of the high quality of the products available at good prices.
“The range of products is immense and you can find bargains from fashion designers from around the world who have retail stores in Bangkok, some of which are not available in Australia. This is not the year to miss the sale.”
