Thangtong had fallen into a 10 metre-deep abandoned well in its owner's back garden in Thepkrasattri Tambon.
The rescue team from the Kusoltham Foundation finally managed to rescue Thangtong by tying a rope around her waist and pulling her up. The whole two-hour long escapade was watched by her mother ‘Nan’ who apparently brayed the whole time.
Apart from a lesion on her left ankle, Thangtong appeared largely unscathed by the incident.
The 39-year-old owner of the house Natnapat Sumanrote was understandably pleased to see Thangtong reunited with her mother and back on solid ground.
“Before the accident I left the horse to roam around the house. There is an abandoned well at the back of the house which I always keep closed with a wooden lid. Thangtong must have accidentally opened the lid and fell in,” she said.
