Kajonkiet arts teacher Josh said he got a hug from Mr Tyler, who spent around an hour at Timber Hut last night accompanied by guards and a woman friend.
"I was in shock when he gave me a hug. He was so nice," said Josh.
"Really warm and just like a normal guy."
Sources said Mr Tyler spent an hour or so at the bar, dancing and partying with the locals.
Adam Smith, a tourist from New Zealand, also had the chance to meet Mr Tyler.
"We went in Timber Hut around 10.30pm and he was just standing at the bar casually, eating and drinking like the rest of us.
"He was with about two guys and a younger looking girl that he appeared close too.
"I asked him for a photograph and he replied, 'I can't do it yet as people will start to recognise me but I can do it later.'
"Then around 11.30pm he was heading out the door and tapped me on the shoulder for a photo opportunity near the entrance. He appeared relaxed and enjoying himself, and was happy mixing with the locals, listening and dancing to the band."
Mr Tyler is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the frontman and lead singer of the American rock band Aerosmith, in which he also plays the harmonica, and occasional piano and percussion. He was also a judge on American Idol.
