“We have good news and very good news,” gushed Yuliya Shkliarova of the development’s sales and marketing team, in a round-robin email.
“The good news is that, as you may know, there was a false alarm and no tsunami came.
“The very good news is that Vista del Mar site was officially declared a Tsunami Evacuation Point and a lot of the people from the Naithon Beach area were relocated to Vista del Mar hill, which is only 600 meters from the beach.
“The Project itself is located 30 to 70 metres above the sea and has fantastic sea views. That’s why all the tourists were sitting around our show villa and looking out to the sea for the coming wave.”
Ms Shkliarova also sent pictures of happy evacuees enjoying the view. She did not mention whether Vista del Mar is also earthquake-proof – the development is about nine kilometres from the epicentre of the April 16 Phuket quake.
