A pleasant dream of this media worker is to be invited to the feast that the Maikhao Dream Resort and Spa laid on for its Sunday brunch at NaTai Beach in Phang Nga recently.
The resort’s German Executive Chef Robert Mujagic held up a couple of lobsters in each hand to be photographed and, appropriately for Chinese New Year, a crispy dark-red roasted suckling pig was ready for guests.
A Thai chef was preparing his specialty, grilling tender lamb chops and beef steaks that had been marinated in western herbs that were spreading their aromatic invitation far and wide.
The buffet counters started outside and led you inside the surfside restaurant pavillion where soups, salads, cold meats and sweets just stretched away on all sides.
There were big cut portions of very large crabs from Alaska, packed with thick
cool white flesh that was simply delicious with chilled Chilean white wine.
Thick pieces of suckling pork were served with a Chinese sauce, crackling on top and oh-so-tender underneath, a highlight of the outstanding lunch.
