His company is currently involved in the refurbishment of The Pavilions resort above Layan Beach, which would explain the multitude of people rushing about with swatches, tiles and delivery packages.

This leading luxury hotel is just one of numerous projects Brian’s company is involved with, including redesigning villas as well as the interior design of the new Seduction nightclub in Patong.

If all this activity were not enough, Brian’s office also doubles as an art gallery and showroom so no matter where you venture within you’ll be confronted by either a remarkable work of art or a piece of resplendent furniture.

“Careful with that table – it cost B2 million,” says Brian. I carefully lift my cup of coffee as a coaster is swiftly ushered beneath. This in many ways encapsulates the Woulfe style; attentive, swift and reassuringly expensive.

Brian’s uncanny ability to sense his clients’ desires has led him to create an enviable client list that continues to burnish his reputation on the island.

His entrepreneurial vigour has led him into a totally new area over the last few months – social media.

Formed in October, his company Social With Woulfe is expanding by the day. As Brian was keen to tell me, “Social media is exploding. When the average person online spends four hours on Facebook alone, this can no longer be ignored by businesses.”

Social With Woulfe offers a host of services, from assisting new clients set up their social media presence and developing their online strategy, to enabling them to understand and react to the new information created by social media.

“When you consider that 90 per cent of the world’s data was created in the last two years, you begin to understand the wealth of new information companies are able to exploit, the large majority of which was created by social media,” says Brian.

The company also offers traditional digital services such as website design and visual identity branding, though it’s more geared towards mobile applications.

As Brian revealed, the smartphone is changing the way people consume media, and companies have to be able to react to this transition to the point where customers are permanently online via their smartphone posting and commenting in real time 24/7.

Social With Woulfe also runs a luxury blog reporting on the global fashion and luxury industry and how technology, digital and social media affect these industries.

Brian felt that this blog, in both English and Thai, was a natural addition to his company considering Asia’s unquenchable demand for luxury goods and its customers’ desire to seek out the latest trends.

The brother and sister companies, Designed by Woulfe and Social With Woulfe, sit very comfortably beside each, with the offices a hive of activity occurring between draftsmen, programmers and bloggers, and all this within a showroom and art gallery.

Who would have imagined such an enterprise was possible in Phuket?

If you meet Brian, you’ll know that anything’s possible.
