Descendants of the Yeh family massed in Miaoli county in northern Taiwan where they burned incense and kneeled in front of a five-storey tower housing their ancestors' remains, the United Evening News said.
The huge family event caused traffic jams in the area, it said.
Taiwanese faithful visit the graves of their ancestors while burning incense and paper money during the annual festival in the hope of ensuring a comfortable after-life for the deceased.
