The challenge to the chefs, issued by Swiss kitchen equipment maker Franke, which is a co-sponsor of this year’s regatta, will be judged by celebrity Thai chefs Fang and Faifoo, well known from the Channel 5 TV show Krua INDY.
The yacht chefs who win the top three places will each walk away with a trophy. The winner will also get an induction hob and cash totalling B46,900, while the runner-up will get an oven and cash totalling B29,990, and the second runner-up will get a gas hob and cash totalling B18,990. Even the losers will walk away with some kitchen gear.
“We feel the Franke Yacht Chefs’ Cooking Challenge is a unique way to connect our products and brand with the Phuket marine leisure industry,” said Arnaud Brandt, Managing Director of Franke (Thailand), adding: “The participants will have a fun time, learning from the celebrity chefs and having the chance to win some fantastic prizes.”
Each competitor will receive 100 ingredients and will have two hours to cook a specific dish. The results will be judged by Chefs Fang and Faifoo, and guests of Franke. The winner will be announced the same evening.
Yacht chefs wanting to enter should email fth-info@franke.com, giving their age along with short descriptions of their job and experience. The first seven people to enter will be in the competition. The deadline for entries is midnight on June 30.
