According to several reports, the company will now announce their next generation console in early April, instead of their originally scheduled date of mid-June (during the E3 gaming convention).
Though Microsoft has yet to unveil the specifications of the new console, several industry news websites have reported leaked details.
According to those reports, the new console – renamed Durango – will have a Blu-Ray disk drive, a built-in DVR (digital video recorder), and will not be able to play used or second-hand games.
The Blu-Ray rumour is interesting since the technology is from Sony, which means they will see a small cut from Microsoft console sales, in addition to earnings from sales of the PS4.
Though it is unclear if the PS4 will be able to play used games, Microsoft has already patented technology that makes it difficult for gamers to sell games to others.
An internet connection will be required to play titles on the new Microsoft console system.
