A Deputy Superintendant of Police Region 8, Maj Gen Pisan Kuldilok, told the National Anti-Corruption Commission at a meeting today (February 10) that Assadakorn is demanding as a condition of his surrender that he be released on bail with no time in police cells.
Gen Pisan said police had not yet reached an agreement with Assadakorn, as they are reluctant to grant a suspect bail in such a serious case.
The influential Assadakorn is well known in Phuket as the director of KPP Cable TV. He is also a Vice-Chairman of the Phuket Chamber of Commerce.
Mr Wisut was shot dead a month ago in a professional hit. Four bullets were fired at point-blank range through the windscreen of his car. He died of his wounds an hour or so later.
The driver of the motorbike involved in the hit was arrested four days later but the gunman, Tossapon Katekeaw, and the organiser/paymaster, Somkuan “Boy” Pandee, are still at large, along with Assadakorn.
