Beginners and first season learners though have been cheering as they have been treated to a plentiful serving of small fun swells throughout July, which is unusual.
We haven’t seen the same storm of activity as we are used to this year, and this is why the rest of us surf-addicted people are chomping at the bit to see some bigger waves.
This past week has given us a snippet of that hope with a rise in the swell.
Meanwhile, the “all girls surfing day” put on by Roxy, Andaman Sea Surf & Freedom Boardsports was a huge hit last weekend, and girls of all ages were encouraged to give it a go. This is one of many great initiatives happening around Phuket’s surf scene now.
We are halfway through Phuket’s surf season now so it’s time to stop putting it off, grab your surfboard and come to the beach before the waves are gone and your yelling at the dog blaming it for your procrastination.
Tim's Tip: To practice basic turning on a wave, move your leading hand where you want to go, your body and the board will then follow.
