Has your surfboard taken a few beatings lately? Or have you just bought a new board and as you carefully took it out of the car, you knocked it on the door leaving a nice big crack? Don’t worry, you’re not alone, and the good news is Phuket has people who can fix those dings.
A new surfboard is not going to stay new for very long, especially if you actually ride the thing. Cracks, dings, paint scratches, snapped noses & fin boxes are all a part of the game.
Depending on the size of the repair, your board should be back in your arms after a couple of days with you smiling like a kid at Christmas. Your board won’t look like it did when you first stepped out of the surf shop, but your board’s performance will not be affected by the repair.
For all you “do it yourself” people you can Google “how to fix my surfboard” and give it a crack yourselves, or you can take it to either of the best local repair guys on the island. Tony in Kata (0847466385) or Dtun in Cherng Talay (0969172171).
Both do a really great job and get you back in the water quickly.
Tim’s Tip: Don't lay your board down on it’s rails, that’s when most of the cracks happen. Instead, lay it down softly with two hands on the board’s front or back sides.
