Gig performs at the 2012 Raceweek final party on Sunday evening.

She now needs the support of people in Phuket to SMS vote for her when the semi final screens live on Channel 3 on Sunday evening, and is hoping the whole island will get behind her.

Speaking to The Phuket News this morning just before she flew to Bangkok, Gig said she was feeling very excited but also a little nervous about Sunday’s performance.

“I’m just going to try my best. Please everyone, vote for me to make my dream come true.”

Gig will sing British pop star Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep’, hoping to wow judges and get another standing ovation like she did when she performed ‘What’s Up’ by the 4 Non Blondes during her heat.

Gig began singing as a way to make money at age 18. She came from a poor family and says now, at age 32, singing has become a way for her to support her family.

She moved to Phuket from Betong, in Southern Thailand, five years ago, and works full time as a singer, as well as studying part time to be a singing teacher.

Around 20,000 people auditioned from around Thailand with the hope of making it on television. Nearly 40 acts have made it through to the six semi-finals, and that will be narrowed down to 12 acts in the final.

Two each from Sunday’s 16 acts will go through to the grand final – for which a date has yet to be confirmed – with the winner taking home a contract with recording label Sony.

To vote for Gig, watch Thailand’s Got Talent on Sunday (July 29), at 5.30pm on Channel 3, and SMS “TGT16” to the number 4838999.
