PHUKET: The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS John Stennis will arrive in Phuket for four days of rest and recreation on October 7. The carrier will be accompanied by the guided missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay.

The arrival of the sailors offers a mouthwatering prospect for Patong entertainment businesses. The Stennis alone has a crew of 3,200 sailors, all of whom have been at sea for months. The Mobile Bay has a complement of around 400 officers and sailors.
The carrier will up-anchor on October 11, and is expected to head for Hawaii.
