UK to raise visa fees

BANGKOK: Britain is to put up the cost of visas to visit the UK, with effect from April 6.

The fee for a short visit visa will rise from £78 to £80 (B3,510 to B3,600); for a two-year visa from £270 to £278 (B12,150 to B12,510), a five-year visa from £496 to £511 (B22,320 to 22,995), and a 10-year visa from £716 to £737 (B32,220 to 33,165).

An extended student visa (six to 11 months) will rise from £140 to £144 (B6,300 to B6,480).

Despite Thailand allowing UK visitors to obtain visas on arrival, the reverse does not apply; all Thais must buy visas from the British Consulate in Bangkok before visiting the UK.
