Anti-narcotics police led by Phuket City Police’s Maj Rittichai Chumchuy arrested two men yesterday who were found in to be in possession of drugs, a gun and ammunition.
Police revealed that at 11:30am they arrested 47-year-old Peeraphat Lapawachirakul with .81grams of crystal meth (ya ice), five methamphetamine pills (ya bah) and other illegal items at a rented home in Moo 3, Rassada.
Then at 6:30pm, 27-year-old Theerayuth Sarueg was arrested with 334.05g of marijuana, a handmade pistol, 23 rounds of .38 bullets and other illegal items including a bamboo bong at a rented home in Soi Yodsanae, Chalong.
Maj Rittichai explained that the arrest of Peeraphat and Theerayuth came after police received a tip-off from undercover officers that the two men have been selling drug to locals from their rented homes. Police put them under surveillance in mid-October and searched their homes yesterday.
In the police statement, Peeraphat told police he bought the ya ice from a man named O (he did not know the real name) whom he contacted by mobile phone. He said he bought 1g and paid B3,000 when O delivered it to his home at 8pm on Oct 26.
Peeraphat said he also bought ya ice via mobile phone from a man named Wang.
Meanwhile, Theerayuth told police he bought his marijuana from a man named Gun who lives in Bangkok. He recently paid B8,500 for 1 kilogram which Gun sent in a parcel to his home on Oct 24.
Theerayuth added that the gun and ammunition were his and that he bought them via Facebook two months ago for B13,000.
Peeraphat was taken to Phuket City Police to face a charge of possession of Category 1 Drugs with intent to sell, while Theerayuth was taken to Chalong Police Station to face charges of possession of a Category 5 Drug with intent to sell and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
