Third new Patong mall to open in March in Phuket

PHUKET: A third new shopping mall, the Bangla Mall, will be opened in Patong next month, it was announced on Friday (February 17).

Monday 20 February 2012, 02:51PM

Phuket Creation Co told participants at a press conference at The Kee Resort & Spa that the new “mini mall”, next to Ocean Plaza Bangla, will offer “a unique experience of fashion, food and fun for all”.

Shoppers can enjoy a cluster of new restaurants and cafés including a Phuket FantaSea souvenir shop, a 7-Eleven, a branch of Bangkok Bank, a Bangkok Burger Company restaurant, a Bata shoe shop, a KFC outlet and a branch of Boots the Chemist. Most will be open from 11 am to 10 pm but outlets in the basement floor will be open 24 hours a day.

Bangla Mall will also have a supermarket and “executive” food court called The Gourmet 9th along with IT, fashion, beauty shops and spas. More than 100 shop owners have signed leases.

The mini-mall, which cost more than B300 million to build, is on three floors including a basement on a land plot of 1.75 rai.

Phuket Creation owner Sompong Doapisad said the mall will offer another choice for tourists in Patong.

There are many entertainment venues, bars and cafés in Soi Bangla, but there are not many places for families or friends to sit and talk, so this mall will be a place where people can shop, eat and so on.

I expect about 1,000 to 5,000 tourists and local people to visit Bangla Mall every day. There will be many special promotions during the opening period but these have not been confirmed yet,” Mr Sompong added.

Of the other two new malls, Patong Promenade, at the east end of Soi Bangla, is already partially open, while Banana Walk, on the beachfront, is due to open later this year.
