Thailand wins Davis Cup singles match in Phuket
PHUKET: Thailand's Pruchya Isarow beat Hong Kong's Philip King in straight sets this morning (February 16) to give the home side an unassailable lead in their Davis Cup clash.
Sunday 16 February 2014, 02:20PM
Playing at Phuket's Thanyapura sports complex after it was decided to move the tournament away from the political protests in Bangkok, Pruchya kept King – older by 14 years – running from side to side and it was only the young Thai's unforced errors that prevented the margin from being much wider.
It has been a hard tournament for King. Although Hong Kong brought four players to Phuket only two have played – King and the even older (35) Ognian Lolev.
This was King's third match in three days. Kolev faces his third this afternoon when he meets 21-year-old Nuttanon Kadchapanan.
Match result 6-4, 6-1, 6-2 to Pruchya.
