Lights were beamed onto the 314-metre-tall structure and skywards from the building as its developer Pace Development Corp was celebrating the B18-billion project on Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra Rd in the Silom area.

Sorapoj Techakraisri, chief executive officer of the company, said the high-end mixed-use property development project consisted of residences, hotel services, a panoramic viewpoint on its top 77th floor with the “Sky Tray” glass floor, the already-opened seven-storey shopping centre named ManaNakhon CUBE, and a 1,000-square-metre activity ground.

Residential, hotel and viewpoint services will be opened next year.

For about two decades before yesterday, the tallest building was the 304-metre Baiyoke Tower II in Ratchathewi district in Bangkok.

Very impressive.
Hope it is built Japanese earthquake proof.
If safety correct, than there is no gas supply all the way up for cooking, just electricity only.
And fire extinquish measures must be top of the art ( with high pressure water pumps and a sufficient sprinkler system).
Will there be held fire drills in such a building once in a while? ( for fire guards + occupants)
Is there a heli deck for repatriating hundreds of occupants and visitors if a fire at lower levels block them to leave that building?
Are there enough helicopters for such a task?

Let us not forget that recent fire in Bangkok shopping/cinema complex where hardly were fire proof or fire prevention was at place. ( no fire proof materials at all, no preventive fire inspections/fire proof certifications by thai authorities).
And we still remember the fire in that high rise Dubai building.

Mai Pen Rai certainly not works anymore in a 'situation'.

Question of the day: Who has the overall responsibility for the safety of occupants + visitors in that inaugurated building?
It is not just a house or flat building.

This highest building of Thailand became the thai face of building.
Thai should do everything to make sure they not loose face when something terrible happens. Be prepared.
