Ten more register for city poll
PHUKET: A new party, the Khon Run Mai (New Generation) 2012 Party registered this morning (May 25) to contest 10 wards in the Phuket City Council elections, to be held on June 16.

Led by a former council member, Pairoj Ruampanpong, who was a member of the ruling Khon Num Party several years ago, the new party does not expect to take over the council, but only to form an opposition to the Khon Num.
“We would like to examine the administration’s work creatively,” said Mr Pairoj. “Let’s say we want to be a bridge connecting people with the council so that people can be sure decisions it makes will not be a waste.”
Khon Run Mai 2012 Party will also focus on education and youth issues.
