The driver stopped his vehicle for fear it might get out of control and slide back down the hill.
With one lane blocked, the heavy rush hour traffic in both directions was affected, with cars backed up to Sea Pearl Villas on the west side of the hill, and as far as the Tesco in Kathu on the other side.
Police were soon on the scene and will now have the task of removing the truck.
