Among the new features is the phone’s 5-inch (12.7 cm), 1080p Super HD AMOLED screen, one of the largest displays on the market.
The S4 also has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera that can be used simultaneously during video calls – something Apple’s Face Time can not do.
A breakthrough feature of the S4 is that it can be controlled, in part, by a user’s eyes.
The Smart Pause feature will pause a video when the user looks away from the screen, while Smart Scroll allows a user to scroll up and down through a page when the phone is tilted.
One thing the iPhone 5 has become known for is Siri, the voice recognition software that is designed to act like a digital best friend.
The Galaxy S4 has a Google-powered voice search feature, which – although not as entertaining – is actually more useful and accurate than Siri.
You want games? The Galaxy S4 is taking smartphone gaming to another level with the addition of a gaming controller that can be connected through Bluetooth.
It looks and feels like a small Xbox 360 controller, down to the colours of the buttons and other design details.
The controller grips the smartphone with a pop-up cover, with the Galaxy S4 in landscape mode for full-screen enjoyment.
The Galaxy S4 will be released in July, at a price to be announced.
