Police were called to the restaurant located on Jomtien Beach Road in Pattaya, close to the intersection with the Chayapreuk Road, and only metres away from a police box.
They saw the woman cut her own wrist with a knife and she then held the weapon to her throat. At one point she even lunged towards a police officer and warned him and others to stay back.
She wanted her husband to return to her and stated she would kill herself if this did not happen.
After 10 tense minutes, police decided to charge the woman and were able to disarm her without further incident.
She was taken to hospital where her injuries are being attended to and her mental state is currently being assessed by doctors.
