Alexey Babenko was riding his motorbike in Thalang last Wednesday (February 6) when he was hit by a rolling wheel that had fallen off a 10-wheel truck.
He was taken to Bangkok Hospital Phuket where he was put in intensive care with severe head injuries. He died on Tuesday morning (February 12).
It was initially reported that Mr Babenko was a tourist, but in fact he lived and worked in Phuket.
Thalang Police Lt Col Chatee Chuwichian said last week the driver of the large truck, 36-year-old Surachai Ketkaew was charged with reckless driving causing injury.
