The airline’s former owner, Russian oligarch Alexander Lebedev, said he did everything he could to save the carrier after it was forced to suspend operations, following a crash of a Tupolev TU-204 jet in December last year, in which five people died.
Although Mr Lebedev has yet to identify the new group of investors, the 1-rouble sale includes the purchase of the airline’s eight TU-204 planes.
On the negative side, the new owners have also bought the carrier’s “safety baggage”, including not only the December crash but also its suspension in early February this year when an investigation into the carrier found violations and a lack of financing.
