Organised with the cooperation of the Phuket Tourism Association and the Thailand Tourism Authorities, the event took place from November 28 to December 1 and welcomed 24 agents from Dubai and 94 from Doha.
The visitors had the opportunity to meet with 12 local tourism companies from Phuket and Krabi.
Bhuritt Maswongssa, Vice President of the Phuket Tourist Association said, “Phuket expects to get more tourists from UAE and Qatar during the low season next year because their high season falls between May and October. The number of tourists from the two countries has already increased to 16,000 people, from 8,000 last year.
"We hope this will increase further as promotions between Qatar Airways and local tourism businesses in Phuket and Krabi commence next year.”
Mr Bhuritt added, “We expect Middle East tourist arrivals to increase by around 50 per cent in 2012 from 50,000 this year.”
