Chayapol Chatchaidech, chief of the Counter-Crime Planning Division, said yesterday (Aug 28) that deputy national police chief Srivara Ransibrahmanakul will seek arrest warrants from the Military Court at the 15th Military Circle in Phetchaburi today.
Maj Chayapol said he could not disclose more details as investigations into the attacks are ongoing.
Four people were killed and 35 injured in the Aug 11-12 attacks in Trang, Hua Hin, Phuket, Surat Thani, Phang Nga, Krabi and Nakhon Sri Thammarat.
The Military Court on Wednesday (Aug 24) approved Gen Srivara’s previous request for a warrant for the arrest of a man linked to the Hua Hin attacks.
Maj Chayapol insisted investigators were making steady progress in their probes into the attacks and they need more time to find suspects and compile solid evidence for prosecution.
A police source investigating the attacks in Trang said a Pattani native had been detained for questioning.
The person, believed to be among four suspects, was being held at the Ingkhayutthaborihan military camp in Pattani’s Nongchik district, said the source.
Daoloi Mueandech, chief of the Trang provincial police, said he led a team to interrogate the suspect.
Investigators were now waiting for eyewitnesses who had seen the suspected attackers at the scene to confirm whether the suspect was among them, said Maj Gen Daoloi.
