Police said the foreigner, believed to be aged around 35 years old, 170cm in height, and of slim build. was driving by himself from Rawai north toward Phuket Town when police say he crossed the centre line on a bend.

He then crashed into a Thai motorbike driver, aged 17, who was driving south with a passenger.

Both the unidentified man and Thai man were killed instantly, but the pillion passenger survived.

Police believe the foreigner was driving very fast, and believe he may have been drunk. The foreigner was not carrying any identification, only B500 and loose tobacco.

Pol Capt Cheinchai Duangsuwan, an investigator at Chalong Police Station, said “This road has quite a dangerous bend on it, and there are a lot of accidents. We believe the foreigner looks like an Italian or French man, but we cannot identify him.”

His body remains in Vachira Hospital Phuket. If anyone’s friend or family member has been missing since this morning, contact Vachira on 076 36 1234.

UPDATE: The dead man was identified by police as Stefan Carol, 35, from Switzerland. His body was returned to his home country on November 6.
