At a press conference in Phuket Town police station they introduced the 10 people they had arrested, along with a large amount of evidence seized.
The gang of six were named as Worawit Chonsiri, 30; Apinan Seateaw, 26; Pitchaya Sutthakiatsuk, 23; Netikorn Maneesri, 30; Niwat Wongkhamjan, 30; and Pongsura Rattanadilok Na Phuket, 37, all from Phuket.
The rolling-up of the gang started with the arrest of Pitchaya and Netikorn at 4 am yesterday (June 27) in the car park of the SB Living Place condominium on Pattana Rd, on charges of possession of 2.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ya ice) and 70 methamphetamine pills (ya ba).
The pair confessed they had ordered the drugs from Apinan, who was caught two hours later in possession of three grams of ya ice, near a 7-Eleven shop on Wichit Songkram Rd.
That arrest in turn led police to Worrawit, who was nabbed in the afternoon at the same place. On him was found 4.93 grams of ya ice.
Worrawit, too, rolled over and led police to Niwat and Pongsura that evening. They were arrested near Loch Palm Golf Club in possession of 100.30 grams of ya ice.
Police also introduced to the press Renu Paho, 20, from Srisaket Province, who was arrested early yesterday morning when police raided the dormitory where she stayed, in Kathu. A search of the place found 35 ya ba pills.
Her arrest stemmed from the arrest on Sunday evening of Thuwanont Khamplook, 28, from Phuket, who was caught with 33 ya bah pills, 1.05 grams of ya ice, a homemade pistol, two rounds of 9mm ammunition and four of .38-calibre ammunition.
The police were not yet finished with their parade of miscreants. Next the brought out Thawatchai Boonruam, 24, of Phuket, who was arrested after being found in possession of 0.024 gram of ya ice at a check point on Wichit Songkram road around midnight last night.
Finally they also announced the arrest of Trirong Wongjina, 29, of Phuket, who was caught yesterday about 1pm, a day after he snatched a handbag from Mrs Wassana Phuanglarp, 47, who was walking in front of the Nawamin Arena on Phuket Rd.
Trirong swept past her on his motorbike, snatching the bag and riding away at speed. Mrs Wassana was able to describe the bike, and gave police the license number.
Officer’s raided Trirong’s home where they found her bag and its contents, along with 17 wallets belonging to other people, bank books, credit and ATM cards, ID cards, sunglasses and mobile phones. They also found pawn tickets made out to Trirong.
