The Chief of the Phuket Customs Enforcement Unit, Charoen Chamniklang, said the officials had received information about a route used to smuggle pirated goods made in China into Bangkok. The goods were then trucked down to Phuket.
The bags included copies of travel bags by such brands as Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Gucci, Prada, Mulberry, Chanel and Mont Blanc were wrapped in white sacks waiting for the dealers to pick them up from the transport company.
The goods seized yesterday will be destroyed. Since January, Phuket Customs officers have on 24 separate occasions seized pirated goods, valued at more than B2.8 million in total.
