C'mon Joe 12, Stupid sarcasm is almost as bad as your constant defense of the officially second worst drivers in the world, and I think they'd be first except Libya (or depending on the year of survey-Namibia) hasn't got a great ambulance service which adds to fatality rates.
Breath-takingly excessive speeding, by the inch tailgating and driving as no one else exists on the road are the norm for Thai-ness, not the exception.

I just heard from the kids playing on the road outside, that they saw a UFO swoop down and tried to take the car away in the area before the horrific accident occurred.

Hey TPN online editor- Kristi Sweet? I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, especially for a conceited, narcissistic, overly blow-holed Thai apologist unable to convince a reader of his insults, er...points.

Thoughtless of that joe12 wrote: " these cough potatoes who never witnessed the accident".
The PN photo's are showing enough. ( Impact due to speed, on a straight part of the road)

Moreover, I, and I am sure with me many others see quite often unneeded road accidents on Phuket. My dash cam does.

It happen twice that I could be helpful to thai accident victims, cause I have a first aid kit, blanket and pillow in the car.
I did more than the thai bystanders who just looked and made iPone pics and films.

In many countries, including S'pore you must do a first aid course first as a part of driving license training.
And it is compulsory to have a first aid kit in your car, AND you must stop to assist ( even you not involved in accident).

Joe 12, one only has to drive around Phuket on a daily basis to know exactly why the accident occurred, it's certainly not because of the weather as the article claims, it is most likely due to speeding for the conditions and or reckless driving, it's also "not just a motor accident" this is a regular occurrence putting innocent people lives at risk due to selfish irresponsible driving habits, I bet your tone would be different if your car was the pole!

""told police he lost control of the vehicle amid strong wind and rain, causing the pickup to skid across the road and hit the power pole.""

Only stupid Driving can cause a Pick Up to skid accross the road and hit a power pole

LOL...got to love all these "couch potatoes" who have never witnessed the accident, never spoken to anyone, yet have all the theories in world for the cause of minor motor accident. Unbelieveable. It's only a motor accident people. Oh...someone forgot drink driving...LOL

Ed Sanders, have you ever seen ANY media challenge the drivers, police, officials etc, story. It never happens, therefore it MUST be the poles, trucks, brakes, trees, klongs etc, fault, it's easier, and safer, than the truth. Thailand, and many thais, can not handle the truth, in many cases the country is in denial, mmm, bit like Joe12.

Pauly44 | 12 July 2016 - 19:32:39

Strong wind & rain, WTF? Couldn't possibly be due to the fact he was driving way too fast and recklessly for the conditions could it, Nah of course not...

Also, the PN needs to stop reporting this like the truck hit the pole by itself; "... when they pickup truck they were travelling slammed into a power pole...". It should read "[4 people] escaped serious injury when the driver of their pickup truck lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a power pole". The truck had nothing to do with it. The idiot driver did not adjust to inclement weather conditions, and endangered the lives of his passengers because of it. The driver is at fault 100%.
