Phanuphong ‘Daniel’ Limbuprasertkul told The Phuket News today that this was the first time anything like this had happened before.
“When my staff came to the shop this morning they discovered that the window had been broken. I’ve been here for 15 years and nothings like this has ever happened,” Daniel said.
He said that as nothing had appeared to be taken, he was baffled as to the motive.
“I have no enemies in the area or anything like that and I thought the mafia system had disbanded in Phuket, so I really don’t know what has happened.”
None of Daniel’s neighbours or fellow Nepalese tailor owners have yet been targeted. He hopes that this will just be an isolated incident in the area, but is not overly optimistic.
“There are lots of Russian-owned tailors that have now boarded up their shops and are now no longer operating. I don’t know what has happened to this area.”
The damage caused to the window has been estimated to be around B20,000. Unfortunately Daniel does not have insurance.
