Police noticed that the robberies always took place in the same area – just north of the Phuket Town Police Station – with the robber fleeing in the direction of Soi Paniang in Tambon Rassada.

Finally police caught a sighting of Sattawat on CCTV and tracked him down to the place where he lived, on Soi Paniang.

Sattawat confessed carrying out the robberies, saying that he always targeted women riding alone who had put their valuables in the basket at the front of their motorbike.

He would mark his target, ride up alongside and snatch everything from the basket. Each time he would borrow a different motorbike to carry out his robberies.

Since his arrest, six of the women victims have come forward to accuse Sattawat of robbing them.
