“Mother’s Day is a great opportunity for people to donate blood to honour HM Queen Sirikit, who will be 84 years old next Friday, August 12,” PRBC chief Pornthip Ratchak said today (Aug 5).

“Donating blood to those in need is one way for people to show HM The Queen, our love, loyalty and respect in everything that HM The Queen has done for us,” she said.

The PRBC and the Provincial Red Cross will hold mobile blood-donation clinics across the island throughout August as part of the birthday celebrations.

“A special event will be held at the PRDC on Mother’s Day from 8:30am to 3pm,” Ms Pornthip said.

“There will be many booths, including where people can sign their name and birthday wishes for HM The Queen, as well as food and refreshments and even booths explaining eye and organ donation projects,” she added.

People who donate blood on the day will each receive a sapling from the Phuket Agricultural Development and Research Centre.
