Pol Col Jiraphat, Kathu Police Superintendent, told The Phuket News that they have already set already set up six monitor screens that are linked to Patong Municipality cameras on roads and the beach.

I have spoken with the Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation and Patong Municipality about getting more monitors; each monitor can be divided into multiple windows to screen several cameras at the same time.

There are 33 local government and police cameras in Patong but only 20 can be linked directly to the monitoring room. There are another 200 or so privately-owned cameras that cannot be linked but which do record what’s going on in their field of vision.

We have excellent cameras on Bangla Rd which give very clear pictures. I think these will be very helpful.”
