A total of 2,600 people from 27 countries, not just in Asean but as far apart as South Korea and Hungary, gathered at the Phraram VI Army Base in Phetburi province for the exercises, which ran from May 7-10.
The event, co-organised by Thailand and South Korea, included field training exercises that covered setting up and running an emergency operations center and a camp for evacuees, air rescue operations, and dealing with such disasters as rock slides, the collapse of buildings, and chemical leaks.
It also allowed the participating countries to share expertise and best practices for dealing with disasters.
