“We had information about him so we contacted him to buy some drugs,” Pol Lt Sathaporn Seenun explained. “We found 391 ya ba pills in his bag and in his underwear.”
Sumonchai, originally based in Phatthalung but now living in Phuket, was the final arrest in a roll-up of users and dealers that began with the arrest of Pongrawee “Kay” Chaiyasap, 29, whom they had followed for some time.
They arrested him along with his brother, Wuttichai “Ole” Akomsin, 28. Pongrawee confessed to having bought the 960 milligrammes of crystal methaphetamine (ya ice) found in his possession from his brother.
Wuttichai said that he had bought the 1.98 grammes of ya ice found in his possession from Sumonchai.
Sumonchai admitted he normally sold the drug to local people and tourists in the Karon area and that he had bought the ya ice from a “senior friend” in Tambon Rassada.
The friend, he revealed, is connected to a drug network run from a prison (though he did not reveal which prison).
The police investigation continues.
